Donald Casimir Golab, age 79, a resident of Oakley, WY; passed away on Februry 23, 2023 at The Huntsman Cancer Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born on August 14, 1943 the son of Casimir and Jean Kawa Golab, in Chicago, IL.
Instead of going to pursue the college life like his brother John Golab, Don pursued the workforce after high school. He was drafted into the United States Marine Corps in November of 1964 and was discharged honorably in 1970. After the Marines he followed many jobs including construction, being a restaurant owner, and his passion, a railroad engineer.
Don had a passion for animals, especially dogs. He owned and rescued an amazing 16 dogs throughout his lifetime, treating them all like family. Don was a true jack of all trades always learning and teaching himself new things. His one true love was trains, he could talk for hours about the history of many classics, truly, a lover of the railroad. He will be interred in the Veterans section of the cemetery, overlooking the railroad tracks.
He is survived by his son Mitch and his daughter, Victoria, who miss him greatly. He touched many lives and brought light in many different ways to those he met. He was a generous, kind, and loving man. The world is a little dimmer without him. He will be greatly missed.
