Floyd Leroy Dewey passed away on February 14, 2018 at the home of his nephew in Cathedral City, CA. He was born on March 7, 1943, in Port Huron, MI to Harold and Anna (McWilliams) Dewey. He was the second child of four children. He grew up and attended schools in Port Huron, graduating in 1961 from Port Huron High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served honorably for his three years of enlistment. After leaving the Navy he worked at the Navy Yard in Washington D.C. As a computer programmer. In 1966 he married Sheila Crawford and to this union their beautiful daughter Tawn was born. Floyd and Sheila divorced after 30 years of marriage but remained friends. In 1969 he moved his family to Kemmerer, Wyoming where he worked at the First National Bank of Kemmerer for eight years. While in Kemmerer Floyd became a member of the Lion’s Club, served as President of the Community Concert Association for 1 year and was the fundraining chariman for the Girl Scouts and he was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He then moved his family to Salt Lake City, UT where Floyd worked for Mountain West Savings and Loan and later for Discover Card. While in Salt Lake Floyd and his wife Sheila were one of the founders of Salt Lake Lutheran High School. He served on the board and was the treasurer for 16 years.
In 2000 Floyd moved to Tucson, AZ and was the Business Manager for Hardin Brothers Automotive until his retirement.
He is survived by his daughter Tawn (Scott) Young, of Salt Lake City, UT; his sister Hope (Vern) Sexton, of Port Huron, MI; brother in law, Gary Musselman and his nephew Rodney Kelch (David Fanning), of Catherdral City, CA; his nieces, Ranae Dallas, of Catherdral City, CA; Rhonda (Jerry Trevino, of Indio, CA; Lynn Ainsworth, Janice Musselman (Scott ) Hayes, Debbie (NIcholas) Hardy, of Port Huron, MI; step sister, Connie Mathew (Jim) of Fort Gratiot, MI; Chris Sexton of Port Huron, MI; his former wife, Sheila Crawford Dewey of Salt Lake City, UT; and numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and friends who he was very close to.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Dewey, a step father, and mother Harold and Anna Sheffer, a sister, Vonda (John) Eagle, a sister, Nancy Musselman, a step sister, Karen Sheffer, and a step brother, Chris Sheffer.
