Jane Thornock

December 16, 1953 — January 27, 2025

Kemmerer

Jane Thornock passed into the loving arms of our Savior in the early morning hours on January 27th, 2025 at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Jane was born on December 16th, 1953 to Frank and Audene Thornock. She was their first child. She attended Elementary, Junior and Senior High School in Kemmerer, Wyoming. She attended the LDS Business College and earned an Associate’s Degree in General Business.

Her early years were spent enjoying camping and picnics with extended family in Star Valley and other areas.

Jane was 4 years old when her brother was born. When she tried pronouncing his name which is Hugh, it was decided by her that his nickname would be Pete.

Jane’s cousin Carol Sue became a good friend to her. Carol Sue spent the summers in Kemmerer after her mother passed and was a good bonus sister to her. Jane talked often with her and enjoyed their visits.

Jane enjoyed keeping touch with many people. She liked to be aware of what everyone was doing. We will all miss her “Good morning” texts.

Jane was married to Dale Massey for a short time and lived in Vernal Utah. She was able to see the country cross country trucking with him. She was a bonus mom to his two children, DJ and his sister. She had still kept in touch with DJ and enjoyed a visit from him several summers ago.

She was married for a short time to Terry Lotz. They later divorced.

She met a kind and loving friend, Bobby Maffei in her later years. They enjoyed going on trips to Saratoga, Wyoming to hunt. They were able to enjoy being together until his complications from kidney disease ended up taking him. She really missed him.

Jane enjoyed traveling to Star Valley and helping her extended family at fair time each summer. She loved to read and watch the NFR Finals on the TV.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and taught Sunday School in her younger years.

Jane is survived by her brother Hugh “Pete” (Jamie), her nieces Brooke (Chayne) and son Malakhai, McKenzee (Jerimiah) Ellis and their children, Millee, Seth and Hallee, and nephew Zach Stevens.
