Ken Willard Walker, age 81, passed away on August 3, 2023 at South Lincoln Medical Center. Ken was born on July 16, 1942 to Vernon & Iva Eardley Walker. He was the youngest of nine children.
He married Ann Richins and together they had two children – Melanie and Karyn.
Over the years, Ken was involved in many different organizations including Lincoln County Search & Rescue and Kemmerer Volunteer Fire Dep’t. He was one of the original founding members of the Commissary Commandos as well as the founding member of the South Lincoln County SnowBears. He was instrumental in establishing a trail system, building and maintaining a parking/unloading area and also involved in the marking of trails and trail maintenance.
Ken retired in 1997 after working as District Manager of Pacific Power Lines and Services for several years. After retirement, he maintained the Kemmerer Airport runways during the winter months, helped local ranchers during haying season and groomed snowmachine trails up Hamsfork and Dempsey.
His hobbies included camping, riding horses, motorcycles and snowmachines, and taking buggy rides in his razor.
He is survived by his wife Ann, daughters Melanie (Steve) of Evanston and Karyn (Wayne) of Kemmerer, grandchildren Brandee (Wes), Alex (Alexis), Kimberlee, and Eric (Taylor) and great-grandchildren, Hailee, Teagan, Dustee, Lanae and Capri. He is also survived by his brother Trulon.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
Graveside services will be held at the Kemmerer Cemetery on Wednesday, August 9th at 11:00 A.M.
